Sadly, we’re getting to that part of the season when New Zealand ski fields start announcing their closing dates for 2026
The good news is that there is still plenty of skiing ahead. Spring conditions are looking good across much of the country, and several ski fields are planning to remain open well into October.
Cardrona has already extended its season through to 18 October, Snow Farm is staying open until 27 September, while both Whakapapa and Tūroa are currently looking towards Labour Weekend before closing for winter.
So before you put the skis away for summer, here are the current planned New Zealand ski field closing dates for 2026.

Closing dates can change
As always, ski field closing dates are subject to snow, weather and operational conditions.
After the amount of snow that has fallen across parts of New Zealand this season, don’t be surprised if we see another extension or two.
We’ll keep this page updated as ski fields confirm their final operating days.
For now, though, there’s still time.
Spring skiing is well and truly underway – get out there and make the most of the final weeks of the 2026 season.
