Tūroa is preparing to welcome guests back to Mt Ruapehu for the 2026 winter season, with a staged opening planned across June and July as snow conditions build on the mountain.

HQ Ohakune will open on the weekends of 30-31 May, 6-7 June, and 13-14 June, giving visitors a chance to get winter-ready ahead of the main season. From Saturday 20 June, HQ Ohakune will then operate seven days a week.

Sightseeing visitors will also be able to enjoy the mountain atmosphere, with Sightseeing and the Alpine Cafe & Bar opening on the weekends of 20-21 June and 27–28 June.

Then from Saturday 4 July, Tūroa plans to begin rolling out its on-mountain winter operations
