Whakapapa Ski Area is set to open from 30 May 2026, offering an early winter experience, “Snowland,” focused on snow play, tubing, and sledding
The new Snowland area, which will be located at the upper level of Happy Valley, brings together multiple activities in one space, including tubing lanes, sledding zones, and general snow play. It’s designed as an accessible way to get on the snow and enjoy the experience.
This early-season offering reflects how the mountain now approaches winter – starting with snow play and sightseeing before skiing and snowboarding terrain opens later in the season.
Visitors can also pair a Snowland ticket with the Scenic Gondola for a full day on the mountain, with views across the volcanic landscape of Mount Ruapehu.
A June-only booking discount is available, adding extra value for early-season trips.
