Tūroa is keeping the spring skiing going, with the mountain now set to remain open until 25 October 2026

Fresh snow at Tūroa as the season continues

Tūroa has received fresh snow as it heads into the final stretch of its 2026 ski season, with skiing and snowboarding planned to continue until Sunday 25 October, subject to conditions.

Friday’s mountain report described fresh overnight snow accompanied by strong southeasterly winds. Temperatures had dropped to −5°C at the Giant and −3°C at the base, bringing a winter feel back to the mountain.

With Whakapapa now closed for skiing and snowboarding, Tūroa offers the remaining opportunity to get some final turns in on Mt Ruapehu this season.

Check Tūroa’s latest mountain report for weather, road access and lift openings before heading up.

Spring operations will continue with Movenpick and High Noon Express running from 10am to 4pm, with Movenpick also available for upload, download and sightseeing.

The Giant Cafe will be open from 10am to 3pm, while coffee, guest services, retail and rentals will be available from around 9:30am.

Snow school will also continue with private lessons available on call from 10am.

So if you’re not ready to call time on winter just yet – remember this date: 25 October 2026. There are still a couple more weeks to get some spring laps in at Tūroa before summer takes over.
