The Remarkables opening day 2026 is aiming to be Sunday, 21 June, with a limited opening planned for the Learner’s Area conveyors
The Queenstown ski area says it received a couple of centimetres of natural snow overnight and has made good progress with snowmaking over the past few days. Snowmaking is expected to continue where conditions allow.
However, a storm forecast for Saturday is now likely to prevent the ski area from opening earlier, pushing the expected opening to Sunday. The Remarkables says the opening will be limited, with only the Learner’s Area conveyors expected to operate at this stage.
Further updates on The Remarkables opening day are expected as the weather system moves through and the mountain team assesses conditions.
