Is Ōhau open for 2026? Update – 2 July 2026
Yes, Ōhau 2026 ski season is open. The ski area opened on Thursday 2 July, with the chairlift and snow mat operating.
Snowmaking has created a single top-to-bottom trail, covering Craig’s Way, Top Flat, Boulevard, Cross Roads, Doldrums, Lower Boulevard and the Snow Mat area. The trail has been groomed, although it is narrow in places.
Ōhau is reporting a 25cm base at the Snow Mat and 30cm at the top of the chair. The upper mountain off-piste base is currently 0cm, so skiing is limited to the prepared trail.

The access road also open and clear of snow. Chains are not currently required, although dense fog has been reported on the road from Twizel and Omarama, so drivers should take care.
