This page explains how the Snowfall Community feature handles information. It supplements Snowfall’s main privacy policy.

Information collected

Questions and answers may include a public display name and the content submitted. WordPress also stores the email address and IP address supplied with a contribution for moderation, security and spam prevention. Email addresses and IP addresses are not displayed publicly.

Answer notifications

Providing an email address for answer notifications is optional. Notifications remain disabled until the address is confirmed through a time-limited email link. Unconfirmed addresses are removed after 48 hours. Every answer notification includes a link that turns notifications off and removes the stored notification email.

Moderation and service providers

Submissions are checked using Cloudflare Turnstile. WordPress or the site’s avatar service may use a protected hash of a contributor email to request an avatar. Moderators can see private submission information when reviewing Community content.

Retention and deletion

Approved public questions and contributions may be retained while they remain useful to the Community. Rejected, spammed and security records may be retained where reasonably required for moderation and abuse prevention. To request correction or deletion of your Community information, email richard@snowfall.co.nz and identify the relevant discussion or contribution.
