Mt Cheeseman Ski Area closes for the season following continued mild weather across the lower mountain damaging trails beyond repair
The ski area said the recent weather had depleted snow cover to the point where there was no longer enough snow for the learners area, lift load area or lower T-bar line.
While some snow is possible later this weekend and into early next week, Cheeseman said the uncertainty around conditions meant it had made the decision to finish the season rather than continue operating with limited snow cover.
The club described 2026 as another short season, but a much more positive one than last year, with plenty of good days and strong support from visitors under its new operating model.
As Mt Cheeseman Ski Area closes for the season, they also thanked its staff, contractors, club members and volunteers for their work throughout the winter.
