Officially New Zealand’s Best Ski Resort for the ninth year in a row.* Mt Hutt is Canterbury’s big friendly mountain with some of the most consistent snowfall in the country delivering a long, white season.

At an altitude of 2086m with a 683 vertical drop Mt Hutt boasts the South Island’s highest chairlift, leg-burning runs and some of the country’s most spectacular views. As well as genuine Kiwi hospitality, guests can enjoy wide groomed slopes, lift access for all abilities, top to bottom terrain parks and some of the best off-piste skiing around. Mt Hutt has 365 ha of skiable terrain and state of the art snowmaking to top up the slopes.

Mt Hutt is striving to become carbon neutral. To achieve this, substantial investment has been put into upgrading equipment, waste management initiatives and native planting.

Other specific reduction initiatives include the recent upgrade of our trail grooming fleet, utilisation of SnowSAT technology and installation of energy-efficient snowmaking technology.

approx. 11% beginner, 37% intermediate, 27% advanced, intermediate, 20% advanced, 5% park.

ACCESS
12km gravel road and a 30 minute drive from Methven.

SNOWSPORTS
Private and group coaching available as well as high performance camps and adaptive programmes.

KIDS PROGRAMMES
From 5 to 15 years and a licensed creche taking children from 2 to 5 years.

FOOD & BEVERAGE
Ōpuke Kai Restaurant, Corona Icebar, Sixteen10 espresso bar, Sky High Café.

RENTALS
Head and Burton recreational and performance rental gear avaliable as well as clothing and helmets. We also have a comprehensive retail shop and provide an equipment tuning and repair service.

SNOWMAKING
Snowmaking facilities covering 28 Hectares of trails.

TRANSPORT
Daily services to/from Methven and Christchurch. Chain hire & fitting service available on the access road for most 2 or 4 wheel drive vehicles.

YOUR MOUNTAIN

Our sisters mountains are down South in Queenstown - The Remarkables and Coronet Peak.
Our primary greenhouse gas emission sources are diesel fuel - used for grooming, transport and building heating - and electricity. Together our three mountains produce approximately 3000 Tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1 and 2 only) annually.

WASTE REDUCTION:
In 2024, we introduced Sorting Stations to our food/drink outlets, reducing waste to landfill by 42% through better recycling and reusable tableware.

TRANSPORT EFFICIENCY:
Our carpool priority initiative at Mt Hutt cut guest-related emissions by 30%, saving around 11 tonnes of CO2 per day at our sister mountain.

SUPPORT FOR CONSERVATION:
In 2024, we raised $21,700 for the Kea Conservation Trust and $29,800 for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Trust.

RENEWABLE ELECTRICITY:
We’ve partnered with Meridian Energy to use their Certified Renewable Energy product. This allows us to report our mountain market-based Scope 2 emissions as zero.*

CARBON CREDITS:
We’ve purchased carbon credits from Climate Action Company (formerly Carbonz). Since 2022 we have purchased 1336 tonnes of carbon credits to offset emissions.
