Tūroa Ski Field is open for the 2024 Season
Tūroa Ski Field is now open for the 2024 season, and all lifts and facilities are fully operational. We recently skied there and can confirm that the snow conditions were excellent. You can read about that here. Last week’s snowfall added a fresh layer to the upper mountain and a little to the lower mountain.
The lower trails likely benefit from active snowmaking, ensuring good coverage across the ski field. The current cold temperatures are perfect for snowmaking; long may they continue!
Historically, Mt Ruapehu sees its best snow conditions from August onwards, and this year appears to be following that trend. For those familiar with the mountain, this is typical.
